Types of SteroidsTypes of Steroids

Steroids are a class of drugs that are synthesized hormones that are naturally occurring in the body. They are used to treat various ailments such as asthma, allergies, arthritis, and some cancers. The 3 main types of steroids are tablets, syrups and liquids.

Tablets are a form of medications where active ingredients are ground down and pressed into small pills or tablets. Steroid tablets are commonly prescribed to treat asthma, rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory conditions in various doses. These tablets may need to be taken on a daily basis and can vary in strength depending on the type and severity of disease.

Syrups are a form of medication where active ingredients are suspended in a solution. Steroid syrups are usually prescribed for the treatment of severe allergic reactions, inflammation and asthma. They are usually prescribed by a doctor so that the exact dose and type can be tailored to the patient's needs.

Liquids are a form of medication where active ingredients are dissolved in a liquid. Steroid liquids are usually prescribed for the treatment of severe allergies, asthma and certain forms of cancer. Similarly to tablets, steroid liquids need to be taken on a regular basis and can vary in strength depending on the type of condition being treated.

Each type of steroid has its advantages and disadvantages, so it is important to talk to your doctor when deciding which type of steroid may be best for you. Tablets have the benefit of being easily absorbed by the body and their effects can be felt within minutes, while they also have the disadvantage of potentially injuring the digestive tract if taken in higher doses. Similarly, syrups and liquids have the benefit of being absorbed by the body quickly, however they also have the disadvantage of running a risk of fungal and bacterial infections if not taken in the correct manner.

Overall, the three main types of steroids are tablets, syrups and liquids, with each having its own benefits and disadvantages when it comes to treating various ailments. It is important to talk to your doctor when considering which type of steroid may be best for you to ensure that the correct type and dose is prescribed for the condition being treated.
